Polestar and CAKE, the electric motorbike company, have long admired each other’s focus on design. We began collaborating in 2019 when the CEOs of both organisations recognised the shared brand values of their businesses.
Polestar / CAKE
Scandinavian design, electric powertrains and a new take on marketing, brand and retail are some of the key similarities. The two businesses also pride themselves on working with one of the world’s foremost shock absorber manufacturers, Öhlins.
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar
“Polestar feels connected to CAKE, sharing both a belief in redefining performance and a passion for design. Our desire to create an electrified and emission-free future is a clear bridge between us.”
In 2020, the relationship between the two brands expanded to incorporate CAKE showpieces in Polestar spaces in Europe. In 2021 the two companies collaborated on an electric moped named Makka Polestar edition by CAKE.
Stefan Ytterborn, CEO of CAKE
“The motorcycle industry is undergoing a similar shift towards electrification as the car industry, and CAKE is ahead of the curve. We are very proud to extend our relationship with Polestar by collaborating on the CAKE Makka bike together.”
Kindred spirits: CAKE
CAKE is a Swedish electric motorcycle brand, encouraging respectful, exciting, emission-free exploration of the outdoors. We recently spoke with founder and CEO Stefan Ytterborn about electric drivetrains, premium versus luxury, and using electric motorcycles to combat poaching.
