Ingredients for the ultimate day trip.

There’s nothing like a day trip to get you in the holiday mood. The chance to jump in the car on the spur of the moment and leave those weekly routines in the rear-view mirror. There’s always new destinations to explore and old favourites to return to.

Wherever you end up, here’s three ingredients for the ultimate day trip in your Polestar 2.

1) Be spontaneous. Decide the general direction you’re going in then let the rest take care of itself. If your instinct tells you to take a scenic detour or you want to spend the whole day at a place originally meant as a pitstop, then go with it. It’s a great feeling to stumble upon somewhere special when it’s completely unplanned.

2) Local landmarks. It’s frustrating when you find out that you missed an amazing art gallery or maybe a local sports event by a few miles. To avoid that happening, just ask the Google Assistant. Start with “Hey Google” followed by something like: “How far is it to the nearest amusement park?” A good tip is to double check the timetables to make sure your destination is open when you arrive.

3) Basic essentials. It’s always a good idea to pack a travel rug to sit on and a packed lunch in a cool bag along with plenty to drink. A good rule of thumb, if you’re out for the whole day, is to pack for lunch but eat out for dinner. And don’t be afraid to travel far. There’s no restrictions and that’s an important ingredient in the ultimate day trip.  With 472kms of range available, your Polestar 2 can easily complete your trip on a single charge.

And finally, because you can cover such big distances, it’s a good idea to cast a quick eye over the weather before you leave. A few jumpers for the evening and, dare we say it, some rain jackets just in case.

Then just sit back, relax and enjoy that whooshing sound: the sound of a day trip in an electric vehicle.
