Let us describe the challenge

The role Senior Buyer is part of Polestar’s global Indirect Purchasing (IDP) organization. You have the responsibility to drive the work of securing short & long-term sourcing strategies, identify new supplier/technologies and development existing supplier relationship within Brand & Marketing included digital marketing and media service together with the business/stakeholders.

You will also:

  • Perform procurement according to defined strategies and frameworks.
  • Maintain and develop the global media contract securing existing services when including new markets to the contract.
  • Negotiate commercial and legal agreements.
  • Review purchase requisitions and identify and select contract/suppliers in accordance with defined strategies and agreements.
  • Track key performance indicators on supplier and stakeholder contract compliance; define and take corrective actions to improve contracts compliance and continuously track supplier performance on quality and cost.

To be successful in this role, some key traits and skills include:

We at Polestar believe in the concept “hire for attitude and learn for skills”. But to be fair to you, is good to understand certain expectations:

  • Proven experience within Brand, Marketing, Digital Marketing and Media services or similar purchasing position. Previous experience of working with Volvo Cars/other Geely companies or Volvo AB is a strong advantage.
  • Cross functional and a global mindset, working with both APAC and US/NA is an advantage.
  • Previous experience of working with Chinese culture is a pro but not a must
  • Thorough understanding of the procurement process and strategic sourcing.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office packages; working knowledge of Volvo SRM software and/or Workdays is a strong advantage.
  • Learn on the fly, can quickly be on top of terminology, our way of working.
  • Strong social abilities. Quickly understand internal stakeholders needs and be service minded Able to work in a group but also remote with people.
  • Nimble way of working. Always ready to change his/her way of working in order to find best solution.
  • Perseverance - try over and over again until we find a solution without giving up.
  • Positive mindset - Nothing is impossible. Even if the candidate know it will not work, will try anyway and supports the others with motivation that we will make it no matter what
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • BSc (or higher) in Economics or Technical discipline from a university degree or equivalent institution.
