Interiors - Core Cabin Engineer
We are looking for a driven, passionate and experienced Interior Trim Engineer to join our team at Polestar UK and play a key role in the future of electric mobility. You will deliver sustainable and progressive engineering solutions as we strive towards a cleaner future, redefining premium vehicles for the electric age.
What you will do:
- Support development of department technology roadmaps
- Drive passionately towards sustainable alternatives to our existing products
- Support project scoping and ideation at concept stage
- Support the team with ‘what if’ studies and new ideas generated by the Principle Engineers
- Develop centre of competency documentation and design guidelines
- Capture quality history and ensure lessons learned are captured on future vehicles
- Develop best in class and best practise Design & Engineering standards and procedures to support Polestar’s Forward Model Quality aspirations
- Support development of test methods and reports
- Work across all teams in cabin to ensure standardisation across group
- Build relationships with suppliers to ensure Polestar is at the forefront when adopting new technology
- Development of Technical Specifications and Targets (system level cascaded to component) in line with recognised benchmark vehicles
- Support RFI and RFQ process with purchasing on new
- Support physical testing when required. Component / Sub-system / System Crash
- Lead development of DFMEAs and SCSS’s to support the Design & manufacture of the vehicles
Technically, you will have:
- High level of experience with 1st Tier Design and Manufacturer of cabin Trim, areas including Trunk / Carpets / NVH / Pillar Trims / Headliners / Tailgate Inner
- Experience using industry standard PLM & CAD systems.
- Knowledge of Plastic moulding, Soft trim technologies, compressions mouldings
- Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP or similar framework (DFMEA, quality planning, PPAP etc.)
- A strong understanding of systems engineering and system development process methodology.
- Understanding of vehicle packaging and occupant ergonomics
- Experience of FMVSS201u and other related Occupant safety analysis with respect to Upper pillar trim systems

- Experienced with business travel in EU and China, but not critical to role
