Vehicle Program Engineer

Due to aggressive growth plans Polestar is currently looking to recruit a Vehicle Program Engineer.


What you'll do:

You will become part of a close-knit team working under the IPL (Industrial Program Leader) for a new vehicle program, jointly responsible for ensuring the delivery of a full vehicle program. The role will be both technical and project focused in equal measure and you will be expected to get hands on in both. Some examples of expected elements within the role;

  • Support in close management of the overall vehicle timing plan and ensuring the interdependencies within each of the different areas of the vehicle are delivered on time and to budget
  • Work across the function groups, development and attribute teams to ensure they all work in support of one another
  • Represent the IPL in both technical and program meetings that he/she cannot attend
  • You will chair meetings within the team, drive results and report out at appropriate external meetings and gateway events.
  • Support in creating the overall budget and managing to it, including justifying changes when needed and delivering challenges to the team and external stakeholders
  • Write new processes where there is a need or amend existing if they are no longer fit for purpose
  • Deep dive financial and technical issues to ensure that the right solution can be arrived at and can be justified.
  • Support in physical builds, testing and development where gaps are identified.
  • Take responsibility of fully cross functional activities to ensure delivery at all costs


Who you are:

In order to succeed at Polestar you will need to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as the ability to build effective working relationships across multiple disciples is paramount.  Attitude is everything at Polestar, we are always pushing boundaries and to achieve the unimaginable you must have a can-do approach and an open mind to endless possibilities. 

  • You have extensive experience across a number of fields within Automotive Engineering or have operated at a full vehicle level on a number of programs
  • You have 8+ years of experience in the automotive industry
  • You are degree qualified or have relevant industrial experience in Automotive or similar fields
  • You have been instrumental in the delivery of a vehicle or significant commodity on a new vehicle program
  • You have excellent technical understanding of a variety vehicle systems and attributes with a natural ability to lead and inspire those around you to deliver in the most challenging of circumstances
  • You actively challenge the norm and are keen to do things differently. Do things better. Not just do things ‘because that’s how we have always done them’.
  • You have been involved in the creation of Engineering budgets, resource plans and validation plans to support system or vehicle delivery
  • You have excellent understanding of new product development systems and processes and know how to work within them on an innovation program
  • You can work proactively with minimal support using a logical approach in an environment with minimal documented processes


Other Required Experience & Expectations of the successful candidate:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal & organisational skills, with good attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work in start-up environment
  • OK with infrequent travel including China
