The Role
- Lead all Ride Analyses for Polestar vehicles utilising expert knowledge in Vertical Dynamics and Controls
- Work in close partnership with the lead Vehicle Dynamics Analyst to create & develop the products through the complete lifecycle (concept to launch)
Main Responsibilities
- Objectively and subjectively characterise the vehicle ride quality over a series of discrete and continuous surfaces
- Create and develop tools to advance the capabilities of the team and company
- Translate vehicle attribute targets into system & component level targets and ensure that the HW content enables these targets to be met
- Build strong relationships with the wider Vehicle Dynamics and Chassis teams using a ‘one team’ mindset
- Support all physical testing and issue resolution, helping to drive development items (at vehicle, system & component level) – particularly dampers and compliant mounts
- Help define future technology roadmaps
The Person
- The applicant should have expert level knowledge in modelling and tuning of:
- Passive damper to capture frequency dependencies
- Semi-active damper & control strategies
- Hydraulic bump & rebound stops
- Powertrain & suspension hydro-mounts
- Top mounts
- Vehicle tuning using 4-Poster modelling and testing
- Random road generation and characterisation
- Analytical ride vehicle modelling
- Good understanding of the F-tire model required
- Expert or advanced user in the following software:
- Adams/Car and Co-simulation
- IPG Car Maker
- Matlab
- Simulink
- Excellent knowledge of vehicle dynamics theory backed up with extensive experience gained through hands-on vehicle development
- Experience of proving ground vehicle testing & instrumentation is essential
- Should be degree qualified (Masters level expected) in a relevant subject
- Must have experience of delivering multiple vehicle programmes
- Able to prioritise workload & manage external inputs/requests with minimal supervision
- Genuine interest in making efficient, sustainable products
