The Role
- Manage the Steering Systems content within the Chassis Systems Function Group
- Own the Steering Gear and/or Column Systems in all aspects of programme delivery & planning from concept through to launch
Main Responsibilities
- Manage the on-time, on-budget and in-spec delivery of the complete product module / system through the whole product development lifecycle
- Take an active role in technology and supplier selection
- Translate programme deliverables into successful delivery plans to support vehicle/system/ component development and validation whilst championing relevant APQP functions at prototype builds and launch (PSW, PPAP, PFMEA)
- Bring together all the elements (e.g. HW development & validation, SW releases, vehicle dynamics tuning loops) into a cohesive overall plan that meets the programme timing
- You will not be directly responsible for SW development nor electrical integration, but you will ensure the relevant teams deliver what is required on time
- Creation & management of technical specifications, ESOWs, DFMEAs & DVPs
- Ensure that the HW content enables the system & vehicle level attribute targets to be met
- Own the bill of materials and manage the content to meet mass, cost & investment targets
- Lead design & manufacturing reviews with all areas of the business
- Help define future technology roadmaps
- Works seamlessly across the teams (R&D, Manufacturing, Service, etc.) to ensure a collaborative approach is applied to the delivery of the project(s)
The Person
- Experience in the delivery of EPAS Steering Systems, both gear and column, is essential
- A good level of Chassis Electronics Systems knowledge is desired
- Knowledge & experience of working with functional safety is beneficial
- Must have strong understanding of release/change processes, drawing standards & GD&T
- Should be degree qualified in a relevant subject (appropriate experience will be considered)
- Strong team player with the ability to influence and motivate others to achieve the best possible results for the product/programme
- Good commercial awareness with a pragmatic approach to product development that suits the size of our organisation
- Able to prioritise workload & manage external inputs/requests with minimal supervision
- Genuine interest in making efficient, sustainable products
