EDS & Materials Quality Engineer

The Role Polestar is blazing a new trail, dedicating ourselves to the development and refinement of electric vehicle performance. One of the key focus points for Polestar is Sustainability, with this in mind there is a future vision of Carbon Zero products from the raw material extraction to the manufacturing of components and finally production of new Polestar vehicles. One of the areas of focus is the Copper used in the vehicles, how this is extracted and inevitably used in the wiring harnesses. We are looking for a forward-thinking engineer with a view on sustainably sourced material which will still provide the quality and reliability expected of our products ideally with experience in:

  • Working as an EDS / Copper engineer
  • Copper Materials analysis
  • Wire manufacturing processes
  • EDS quality control and testing
  • Harness design experience
  • several years’ experience in a circuit design and procurement position.

Your contribution

The leading attribute within Polestar is sustainability with a vision to be Carbon zero by 2030, to achieve this we need motivated, self-managing engineers with a passion for sustainability. As the lead for copper, you will be working alongside the advanced engineering area in initial investigations with key partners on sustainable ways to produce copper to be used in our vehicles. As the end user will be a vehicle environment the project needs to be followed through to the end user (us) ensuring the copper can be used to create wires to meet our specifications and uses.

Your responsibilities will be to:

• Lead key projects with partners related to Copper Sustainability

• Coordinate wider EDS related componentry sustainability improvements

• Ensure EDS quality is maintained between suppliers

• Own and maintain the EDS requirements deck to ensure consistency and clarity targeting sustainability

• Support and coach wider teams in key competencies related to the role

• Define methods, tools, and processes to ensure quality is maintained

• To act as a company ambassador for Sustainability

Essentially, you will be a guiding star; you will help spearhead the transformation to a fully sustainable OEM, working with key partners and internal teams to ensure that Polestar is striving for an exceptional, class leading, customer experience.
