The person:

  • Proven track record of delivery within a studio engineering team for interiors or exteriors, ideally both
  • Knowledge and understanding of key technologies and processes used in both Interior and Exterior component manufacturing
  • A deep understanding of how Designers work and operate with a proven ability of delivering on their wishes whilst supporting functional engineering requirements
  • Excellent communicator and negotiator
  • Ability to work proactively with minimal support using a logical approach in an environment with minimal documented processes
  • Flexible to support other team members in multiple programs as required
  • Ability to manage different stakeholders with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to think creatively to solve feasibility issues
  • An extensive working experience within an Engineering environment delivering vehicle package, system, component, or attribute driven technical solutions
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines and prioritise your own workload

 

The Role:

  • Support the delivery of the vehicle design program, working between and closely with the UK Engineering team and the Sweden based design team
  • Ensure the integrity of the design is maintained whilst delivering a feasible vehicle
  • Leading the studio engineering activities for interior and exterior of full car-line programmes, through the design gateway feasibility deliverables
  • Liaising closely with attribute teams to ensure their input into the development of the design aesthetic is understood and interrogated ensuring the design vision can be delivered
  • Confidently and clearly presenting issues and proposed feasibility solutions
  • Provide proactive input to the design team to improve the aesthetic while ensuring manufacturability to deliver high perceived quality
  • Responsible for achieving and tracking against the design gateway deliverables
  • Assurance of the adherence of the design themes to legal requirements, programme assumptions, internal standards, and attribute requirements
  • Generating/driving the creation of feasible engineering schemes in CAD to deliver aesthetic design – including generating creative alternatives to initial proposals
  • Prioritising and setting the agenda for reviews between Design and Engineering - the key forum for design issue resolution.
  • Support on-site (UK & Sweden) meetings when requested
  • Create, co-ordinate and run regular studio meetings ensuring all key stakeholders are engaged when needed
  • Creation, modification, management & delivery of ergonomics & design physical buck

Minimum Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5 years working in Automotive Industry in Studio Engineering or similar field
  • Creating initial concepts & package layouts
  • CATIA V5 proficient
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal & organisational skills, with good attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work in start-up environment
  • A Design or Engineering Degree (Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered).

Desirable Experience:

  • Low car and sports car experience including convertible vehicles
  • Experience in working on full electric vehicles
  • Experience with Occupant Set-up, Vision & Ergonomics Assessments
