Vehicle Communications Network Engineer

The Vehicle Communications Network Engineer will be technical lead for the maintenance and development of the vehicle communication networks (Ethernet/CAN/CAN-FD/LIN) on Polestar vehicles.

The Role: 

  • Work with different teams across the business to understand their vehicle networking needs, for example to create serial data interfaces for new features
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of communication message changes
  • To create and maintain the networking specification outlining the business requirements and best practices for the implementation in electrical and electronics units
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a robust signal database change management process
  • Support and management during the content definition phase to ensure requirements and guidelines are being met
  • Work with different engineering teams and suppliers on interface development
  • Develop network design verification plans at both ECU and vehicle level

The Person: 

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge, experience, and ability in automotive networking technologies (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
  • Experience or knowledge of related technologies (e.g. AUTOSAR, serial data analysis, calibration processes, programming tools)
  • Experience in Vector Elektra and Capital Networks would be considered an asset
  • Experience or knowledge of relevant tools (e.g. PREEvision, CANoe, CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy, Doors, Rhapsody, IBM Synergy, IBM Rational Team Concert)
  • Experience or background in the development of vehicle electronic and software architectures
  • Experience of engineering and business release processes within the automotive sector
  • Excellent communication and co-ordination skills - at ease coordinating a team of engineers and suppliers
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and methodical individual who is self-motivated, able to work well under own initiative and remain focused under pressure
  • Electrical, Electronic Systems, Electro-mechanical, Automotive, or similar honors engineering degree. Other recognized engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience may be considered
