Senior Design Engineer - Electrical Systems Packaging and Integration

 The Role:

  • Responsible for the overall packaging and integration of key electrical systems from concept to production within a Teamcenter PLM / CATIA V5 environment
  • Deliver designs to meet the requirements of component and system specifications in accordance with environmental, EMC requirements Polestar design guidelines and standards
  • Assist technical discussions with suppliers, internal cross-functional teams, and partner OEM
  • Scope includes critical low voltage systems, control units, sensors, and actuators, including:
    • ADAS, AD and Protective Safety systems
    • Interior systems and User inputs
    • Infotainment and Connectivity systems
    • Security and Access systems 
  • Support in the design of brackets, fixation concepts and EDS for the electrical systems components and sensors
  • Support workstreams with Vehicle Integration and EDS Packaging teams to resolve technical, packaging, manufacturing, and serviceability conflicts
  • Develop concepts and technical reports to demonstrate compliance with technical specifications and guidelines

The Person:

  • Demonstrable experience (5+ years) in a CATIA V5 environment with additional experience of electrical distribution system development
  • Experience of modern hybrid and HV electrical vehicle architectures, systems, and EDS
  • Experience of visualisation using CATIA or Vismockup
  • Ability to apply GD&T to deliver efficient design solutions which meet the system requirements in accordance with company guidelines
  • Possession of an Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems, Automotive or similar Engineering Degree (Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience may be considered)
  • Flexible, enthusiastic individual who is self-motivated, able to work well under own initiative and remain focused under pressure
  • Excellent communication and co-ordination skills - at ease working with a cross-functional team of engineers and suppliers
